Poor people can be Happy too!
I am a poor African, I live on a farm, I walk everywhere, I love my 9 children and my two wives, I own 2 cows, I live in a small hut, I love my life. Why is it that most people in the West have everything in life but still are not happy? Maybe they can learn a few things about happiness from us the poor people.
I am grateful for everything that I have. I love my two wives dearly. I love my children dearly.
I do not have a job, but I am still happy. I spend most of my time working in the fields, cultivating crops and produce to sell at the market. My wives raise chickens to sell. My children go to the school 5 kilometers from here. Daily, they walk to and from school. I must tell you they are quite fit, 9 of them.
We live within our means. I own a bicycle, which is our most prized possession in the family. I use that sometimes on the weekend to go to the town center to get supplies such as cooking oil or sugar.
I meet a lot of white people that come to visit our village as tourists. It is quite interesting that most of them talk about how they have a lot of property, cars, everything, but they are not satisfied with their lives. I do not understand. I would love to have a big house, but I am happy with what I have. I cannot afford to have a big house. I am very proud and happy that I can raise my 9 children and take care of my two wives through agriculture.
And yes, this computer was a gift from a tourist who was here. My son is typing as I am talking.
Anyway, please tell me. Why are most people in the west not happy? Some have millions of dollars in their bank accounts, with opportunities to travel all over the world, married to beautiful wives or professionally successful husbands, still not happy or content. Some have no friends, or "real" friends.
We are happy down here in the African jungle. Life is good. After working all day at the agricultural field, I go join my friends for a round of home brewed beer.By the time I get home, my wives will be ready with some delicious dinner. We catch up with the children over supper.
That is my African Good Life...
